The Farm Report

Through a sad event we lost a sheep, but we just got two more last weekend to keep 'ol faithful Gurt company.

They are Jacob sheep, some sources beleive they are the same breed held by Jacob of the Old Testament, they are white with brown/black spots and have 2 - 6 hornes. beautiful creatures, intersting personalities, low maintenence lawn mowers.
As a primitive breed they need little care but still have good fleece and reportably good meat (I should name our future lambs things like "mutton" and "haggus" just in case). -I'll get a picture of "Summer Storm" and "Shannon" up soon

We worked on our pasture expansion project today and will be buiding a chicken coop soon so that we can take care of ourselves! A garden is planned for the spring and our apples are tasty! Do you know if I can send you guys apples or cherries when they are in season? Our fruit is very tasty and we have more than we know what to do with.

Shaug and Amy: if the world gets gnarly and you need it, I'll send a breedable pair of sheep to your family's outpost down there :)

I love you all a lot and Basil and me(I) can't to see you all next month!

I'm scared to know what happened to the other sheep. B thought you should get an alpaca to defend your sheep. Then you could make sweaters too!!!

Still sad about your sheep... I should post a tribute on sheepstories. Glad you found more friends for Gert though... And by the way, I'd be stoked if my Ahwahnee family decided to outfit their outpost with nutritious supplies "just in case". I'd bring it corn!

Hey, I didn't even know you had sheep or space to keep 'em. Can you post a picture of your lot?

And beej, I would actually like to get some sheepies to keep the grass down and maybe make us laugh, but that means a fence, and *that* means a lotta dough. One day....

I'll get pictures up soon. Right now we have a small flock, three sheep: A boisterous (sp?) Romney named Gurt (she looks like a lion right now, when the previous owners had her, they didn't shear around her head last time for some reason, it seems to fit her though) and two Jacob sheep; a four-horn ram named Summer Storm (Storm for short) and a two orn ewe named Shannon, we didn't name either of the last two. They are 18 and 10 months, respectivly, and will most likly produce some
lambies in the spring. Fun!

If any of them are born with messed up shaped hornes you are supposed to eat them so they get out of the breeding pool, we have decided on naming them Haggus in that case and making a cool looking sheepie pelt for mister man.

love you guys!
